Has a extensive section on Texas and San Antonio. What are Texans reading these days, you ask? Lone Star Lit has your monthly list of trending regional titles at the Twig Book Shop, a leading independent bookseller in San Antonio. A great shop for unique books that you might not find at the major bookstore chains. The availibilty could be better but the childrens book readings they do are wonderful. Its small and cramped for sure but there are wonderful book discoveries to be made. Plus you feel good about supporting the little guys. Currently located at the former Pearl Brewery on the Museum Reach of the Riverwalk, The Twig provides newly released books for children and adults as well as award-winning classics. Somehow The Twig Book Shop often manages to sell quite popular and recent books for even cheaper than Amazon. The Twig Book Shop began its evolution in San Antonio in 1972. My wife loved the miniature terrycloth Hikosen Cara Japanese-style kitty that is made sustainably by women in Southeast Asia, which I purchased in the store. They also have a section dedicated to San Antonio for the traveler looking to familiarize him or herself with the areas history. I thought the selection of books in the science/nature/psychology section was also equally eclectic and interesting. I went looking for books on food history and bought half of the handful of books in that section. Twig is a small book shop, but the tailored selection is apparent.
